Pharrell Williams began working with adidas in 2014, and the Hu line (short for Human Race) became the part of that partnership where the message sat on the shoe itself, single words stitched across the upper in place of a graphic. The Trail was the rugged reading of the NMD: the same stretch Primeknit sock, but wrapped in a caged lace panel and dropped onto a lugged outsole meant to suggest ground the original was never built for. This yellow pair belongs to a Friends and Family run assembled for China in early 2018 and never offered publicly. The knit is saturated yellow throughout, with 'Breathe' embroidered on one shoe and 'Walk' on the other, purple rope laces threaded through the cage and a matching purple outsole below. Teal picks out the collar and the lace surround, giving the pair three loud colours where most retail Trails settled for a tonal knit. Because the run stayed inside adidas and Pharrell's own circle in that market, it reached collectors only through resale, and it is usually grouped with the other China-exclusive Hu pieces from the same year.
