A black blade with a white halo is what the Darksaber looks like on screen, and this Gazelle translates that into materials rather than into a graphic. The upper is black suede. The serrated three stripes and the heel tab are metallic silver, printed with an electric crackle pattern and given a reflective coating, so under a camera flash or a headlight the trim lights up while the rest of the shoe stays dark. That is a more literal reading of the weapon than it first appears: the blade is the bright part, everything around it is not.
The Darksaber was created for the animated series in 2008 and later became central to The Mandalorian, where it functions as a symbol of authority over Mandalore that can only be won in combat. adidas released this pair on November 4, 2020 at $100, timed to that show's run. A grey rubber cupsole finishes it. Reflective trim is the detail that dates a shoe fastest, but on a black suede Gazelle it stays invisible until it is needed, which is the best case for it.
