ASICS launched the Nimbus in 1999 as the plush end of its road range, and the series has stayed there ever since: the cushioned counterpart to the stability-focused Kayano and the more workmanlike Cumulus. The twenty-fourth version, built for 2022, was the one that finally swapped the older FlyteFoam blend for FF Blast Plus, a foam the brand rated lighter, softer and bouncier than the FF Blast used in the Novablast 2. Testers measured the result at roughly two-thirds of an ounce under the 23, and several noted the shoe had changed character: where the 23 rewarded easy plodding, the 24 could be pushed. Light Steel over white is the restrained option in a year when the model also appeared in far louder treatments. The pale blue-grey mesh shows the tonal overlays clearly, and the white midsole makes the FF Blast Plus stack look as tall as it actually is. Nothing about the colourway announces itself, which suits a shoe aimed at runners buying a trainer rather than a statement.
