The GT-1000 is the floor of the ASICS stability range. It sits below the GT-2000 and well below the Kayano, and it exists because the earlier GEL-1000 series, which ended with the 1170 in 2011, needed a successor at the same price point. The GT-1000 took over in 2012.
The hardware reflects the position. LiteTruss sits on the inner side of the heel and midfoot to slow inward roll, FlyteFoam handles cushioning, and a GEL unit takes impact at the rearfoot. There is no premium foam and no plate. What buyers get for a hundred dollars is a functional guided trainer rather than a light or fast one.
The tenth version arrived in early 2021 with small refinements rather than a redesign, and reviewers treated it as solid value at the price. This all-black pair is dated to March that year, the plainest of the launch colorways.
