The GT-1000 is the entry point to the ASICS stability range, sitting below the GT-2000 and well below the Kayano, and it usually inherits technology a year or two after the flagships get it. The twelfth version's headline change was fit rather than foam: ASICS widened the profile noticeably against the eleventh, which had drawn steady complaints for running narrow, and shipped it in extra-wide as well as standard. Reviewers and buyers with broad feet singled that out as the real improvement. The design brief was softened too: comfort prioritised over maximum rigidity, on the reasoning that this shoe's buyer wants mild guidance rather than a corrective device. Sheet Rock is a pale sandy grey, and paired with antique red it makes a shoe that could pass for a walking shoe as easily as a trainer, which for a hundred-dollar stability model is not an accident.
