ASICS did not start the GT-2000 from scratch. The series took over in 2012 from the GT-2100 family, whose final entry was the GT-2170, ending a run of numbered stability trainers the brand chose to restart rather than continue. The GT prefix has always signalled the same job: hold a foot that rolls inward, without the weight or the price of the brand's flagship support shoe. Through the 2010s that meant a firmer wedge of foam along the inner side of the midsole, which ASICS branded Duomax, backed by a plastic bridge under the arch. By the eighth edition the cushioning had moved to FlyteFoam, the lighter midsole compound the brand introduced in 2016 and then pushed down through its range, while the support hardware stayed conventional. Sunrise red is one of the louder finishes the series has worn. The GT-2000 more often trades in navy, grey and black, which is part of why it sells in the volume it does.
