Stability running shoes ran on one idea for the better part of two decades: place a denser block of foam under the arch so the midsole resists collapsing inward. ASICS called its version Duomax, later Dynamic Duomax, and fitted it to every GT-2000 through the series' first decade. The ninth edition sits near the end of that approach. Within a couple of years the brand had stopped advertising the post at all, shifting toward guiding the foot with platform width and midsole shape instead of blocking it. GEL, the silicone-based shock absorber ASICS launched in 1986 and named half its catalogue after, still handles impact at the heel. An all-black upper puts this pair squarely in the world the GT-2000 mostly lives in: hospital corridors, warehouse floors, long shifts and commutes, bought for the support underneath rather than for anything on top of it.
