The Noosa takes its name from a race, not a colour scheme. The Noosa Triathlon has run on Queensland's Sunshine Coast since 1983, founded by former Olympic distance runner David Power and Joe Gilbert with the local Lions Club, and ASICS has attached the name to its triathlon-oriented trainer for years. The build follows from the event: a thin, quick-drying upper meant to be run sockless out of transition, elastic laces, and a heel loop for pulling the shoe on with wet feet. The fourteenth version softened the FlyteFoam midsole slightly and updated the upper, with testers reporting more cushioning than the thirteenth offered and a forefoot rocker that kept turnover quick. Traction, several noted, is fine on dry pavement and unconvincing anywhere else. The tropical print over safety yellow is as much the point of the line as the fit is; the Noosa has always been the loudest thing the brand produces, and the graphics change every year while the race-day brief stays put.
