ASICS splits its tennis range between shoes built to survive sliding and grinding and shoes built to move, and the Solution Speed FF has always belonged to the second group. The second version comes in around 11.9 ounces in a men's nine, notably light for a court shoe.
The midsole runs FlyteFoam in the heel at a moderately firm durometer, with a considerably softer secondary foam in the forefoot (measured roughly ninety-seven per cent plusher than the primary compound), so landings stay cushioned where the shoe spends most of its time. A stiff TPU shank wraps the midfoot for lateral support during direction changes, which is the part of a speed shoe that usually gives out first.
It is a hard-court shoe first, and one that has picked up a second audience in pickleball. Worth knowing before buying: unlike some models in the range, this one carried no outsole durability warranty, so a heavy toe-dragger should plan accordingly.
Dive Blue over white is the mid-2022 make-up, released 30 June at a hundred and thirty dollars, ahead of the Antique Red version that followed the next spring at a slightly higher price.
