The twenty-fifth Nimbus was the biggest single rework the line had seen. ASICS changed the gel, the foam, the upper and the outsole in one generation: PureGEL replaced the visible heel unit with an internal insert that is lighter and softer and sits only at the rear, and FF Blast Plus Eco went underneath with around twenty per cent more foam than the 24, six millimetres more at the toe and four at the heel. The Eco part is literal, with the compound made using at least twenty per cent bio-based material. Reviewers treated it as the model finally arriving where the max-cushion category had moved. Piedmont Grey with pure silver is characteristically restrained for a shoe that had just grown considerably taller, which is probably the point: the colour keeps the volume from reading as bulk.
