The twenty-fifth Nimbus is the largest single change the line has made. ASICS added roughly twenty percent more FF Blast Plus Eco foam, a compound built with at least a fifth bio-based content, which pushed heel stack past forty millimetres. Because forefoot stack rose six millimetres against four at the heel, the drop fell to eight from the ten or thirteen of the previous version, depending on which fit you bought.
GEL gave way to PureGEL at the same time, a lighter and softer formulation placed in the heel and credited with the same impact absorption at lower weight. The shoe ended up carrying far more material than its predecessor at close to the same weight on the scale, which is the trade every brand chases with a max-cushion trainer and rarely lands.
What that did to the shoe's character mattered more than the numbers. The Nimbus stopped being a plush daily trainer and became a high-stack easy-day shoe, and the lower drop changed how it loads the calf over a long run.
