By its fourth version the Novablast had drifted a long way from the soft, bouncy shoe that made the line's name. The midsole moved to FF Blast+ Eco and came out firmer, stacked 42mm at the heel and 34mm at the toe for an 8mm drop, taller than the third version, with less give in it.
That changed what the shoe is for. Reviewers found it strong at uptempo paces, where the firmer platform pushes back, and blocky on easy recovery runs, where the earlier Novablasts had been most comfortable. Weight rose slightly to 9.2 ounces, three-tenths above the previous generation, while the price held at a hundred and forty dollars.
The upper is the clearer upgrade: a thin woven material that reads more premium than what it replaced, with small perforations through the toe box for airflow and a raised heel tab for pulling the shoe on. Sizing was corrected too: the third version ran large, and this one sits true. The trampoline-inspired outsole stayed, joined by a deeper decoupling groove running from heel to forefoot.
