Marquis Mills Converse started the Converse Rubber Shoe Company in Malden, Massachusetts in February 1908, more than a decade before the shoe the brand is now known for existed. The All Star arrived in 1917 as a basketball shoe and was redesigned in 1922. The company belongs to Nike today, and the Chuck 70 is its own history repackaged: a reissue of how the All Star was built in the 1960s and 1970s rather than a new design.
A plain cobalt high-top is the least historical object that lineage produces, and that is the use for it. With no print to look at, the specification carries the shoe. Heavier canvas holds the shape, the glossy midsole runs the foxing tape higher up the sidewall than a standard All Star's, the heel license plate is black rather than white, and a thick OrthoLite footbed sits inside. Egret trim and black detailing finish it. The pair released 11 November 2021 at 85 dollars.
