Black canvas is the most forgiving background for a printed graphic, because white line work on it holds its edges where colour on colour tends to blur. The Happy Faces treatment takes advantage: the faces are drawn in white across the upper, with Light Dew, a pale mint green, bringing in the only second colour so the pattern does not read as purely monochrome.
Repeating a simple motif over a high-top means the design carries up the quarter panel and around the collar, giving it far more surface than the same print gets on a low-cut pair. The shoe itself does not change for the artwork, which is the usual arrangement for a printed Chuck. Converse listed it at $75, a small premium over a plain canvas high-top.
