Ochre is a pigment name before it is a colour name, taken from iron-rich clay, and Amber Ochre is the warmer end of it: a deep golden brown with orange underneath. Washing it, as Converse did across the Summer Wave pairs, lightens the flat panels and leaves the seams darker, so the shoe looks sun-worn from the first wear.
That finish sits particularly well on a warm colour. Where washing makes a navy look faded, it makes an ochre look weathered, closer to workwear canvas than to sportswear. Vintage White rubber on the toe cap, sidewall and outsole is tinted cream to match. The construction is the everyday Chuck Taylor All Star high-top, unchanged apart from the finish applied to it. The pair arrived on 20 April 2021 at $60, the same price as its navy counterpart.
