The first wave of Hello Kitty Chucks arrived in August 2018. This high-top followed in December, using a tighter three-colour scheme: black canvas, red as the accent and white on the rubber toe cap, foxing stripe and outsole. Red pulls the character reference toward Hello Kitty's bow rather than the pink base the earlier pairs leaned on, which makes it the more wearable of the two black versions.
The silhouette is the standard All Star high-top, the shape Converse has been selling since 1917 and has left largely alone: canvas upper, rubber bumper at the toe, metal eyelets for airflow, the ankle patch on the lateral side and a diamond-tread outsole. Nothing about the build changes for a collaboration, which is the point. The graphics carry it. Our records put this one at $70.
