A large metallic N stretches across the New Balance 4040 Energy, sitting over a geometric, lightly patterned upper. The White with Faded Poppy colorway mixes a pale lavender-gray body with warm gold-orange at the logo border, heel loop and mottled rear panel. Darker gray wraps the heel portion of the midsole, where the FuelCell name appears in white. The side profile also reveals a low toe and exposed metal hardware beneath the forefoot.
Built for baseball on natural playing surfaces, the 4040 Energy combines a seven-spike outsole plate with full-length FuelCell foam. Its mesh and TPU upper is vacuum pressed, producing a streamlined surface with no-sew reinforcement. A top strap adds another securing point across the instep. The combination of that strap and the broad side panels helps distinguish its upper from a conventional stitched cleat.
