Lorenzo Federici works in hand dye. His colour schemes have appeared on other people's collaborations, and the projects released under his own name are customs in the literal sense; he buys the shoes at retail, treats them himself, and sells the finished pairs. New Balance was not a partner on this one.
The treatment takes a metallic silver 860 and runs a gradient across it, moving from yellow through orange and pink into purple. The stated reference is a London evening sky, which is also where the shoes were sold.
The distribution was its own performance. A hundred and fifty golden tickets were hidden inside chocolate bars handed out around Soho on release day, and only ticket holders could buy a pair at the pop-up, whose location was announced the same morning.
