Obsidian is one of the more useful blues in Nike's palette because it behaves like black in low light and only shows its color in daylight. Against a white leather base it gives this low top a hard edge without the flatness a true black would bring.
The color blocking is conventional and all the better for it. White covers the quarter panels, the tongue and the sole; Obsidian takes the Swoosh, the toe overlay, the eyestay and the collar trim. Nothing else intrudes, which makes the shoe one of the cleaner two tone lows in the line. The Low cut removes the ankle collar of the High, leaving the Wings logo in a smaller panel near the heel.
