Before North Carolina and before Chicago, Michael Jordan played at Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina, graduating in 1981. The school's blue and gold is what this shoe is built on. Game Royal suede forms the underlays and Varsity Maize leather takes the overlays, which puts the yellow on the toe, eyestay and heel where the eye lands first. The mix of suede and leather in two different colors gives the upper more depth than a single material would, and a white midsole finished with Nike Air branding sits underneath.
