Jordan Brand and Eminem put the shoe out in December 2008 alongside The Way I Am, a track and later a book of the same title. Production was capped at 313 pairs, matching Detroit's area code, and unusually for a limited run the size assortment skewed large, reaching up to 18.
The base is the Air Jordan 2, the 1986 model manufactured in Italy, redone here in light grey suede with perforations across the forefoot and textured panels along the sides. Red and white lettering across the mudguard and ankle quotes lines from the song, which is the detail that moves the shoe past being a colourway.
Pairs shipped with a matching t-shirt, and a share of the proceeds went to the Marshall Mathers Foundation. They sold out in minutes, and with only 313 in existence the shoe has stayed among the scarcest Jordan releases of that decade, which is reflected in what the few pairs that surface now ask.
