The Air Jordan 11's tooling is among the most recognisable in basketball footwear: a translucent outsole, a wide moulded midsole and a shape built for Michael Jordan's 1995-96 season. Jordan Brand has reused it repeatedly, but the Future, released in March 2014, is the clearest case of separating the bottom from the top. The 11's midsole and outsole carried over intact; the patent leather mudguard and ballistic nylon above them were deleted and replaced with a single woven upper.
That made it a lifestyle shoe rather than a performance one, and it gave Jordan Brand a surface it had not used before: a weave that takes colour differently from leather, with the panels reading as texture rather than as separate parts. Iron green belongs to the first year of colourways, a muted olive-leaning green set over a white sole, and listed at 135 dollars while the premium versions of the same shoe ran considerably higher.
