Premium 'Elephant' applies the elephant textured graphic from Tinker Hatfield's 1988 Air Jordan 3 to the Air Max 1, a crossover between two of his designs. Black leather carries the print across the mudguard and overlays, set against white underlays and clear jade hits at the heel, tongue and swoosh embroidery. It released in January 2007 at 100 dollars, produced with Tokyo boutique atmos.
Nike brought the colorway back in 2017 after it won a fan vote tied to Air Max Day, following its original run in 2007. atmos, founded in Tokyo in 2000 by Hidefumi Hommyo with Hirofumi Kojima as creative director, has built a run of animal print Air Max 1 releases, and Elephant remains the one most directly tied to Hatfield's own Jordan 3 artwork.
