Blue stitching outlines the black nubuck panels of the grade-school Jordan 5 Black Carolina. The same University Blue appears inside the collar and tongue, with a reflective grey surface on the tongue's exterior. Translucent netting opens up the sides between the dark overlays. White tooth-like shapes interrupt the black midsole, adding a larger contrast below the more restrained blue details.
The colorway returns to a 2006 design that referenced Michael Jordan's college years at Carolina. In this big-kids edition, Air cushioning and foam form the underfoot platform, with translucent rubber completing the outsole. The relationship between black and blue differs from an all-blue college-inspired shoe: blue traces the seams and interior, while black remains the main outer surface. The reflective tongue supplies a separate finish within that arrangement.
