Medicom Toy is best known outside footwear for the Be@rbrick, the bear-shaped figure it has produced since 2001 as a canvas for other people's artwork. Its first Nike SB Dunk arrived in mid-2004, sold only to registered members of the company's own website, and the second followed within months on similarly restricted terms. Where the first leaned on the bear as a logo, this one shifts the branding toward the company's own retail operation and lets the materials do the work instead. Two weights of denim (one black, one closer to grey) are cut across the panels and set against a white midsole, so the upper reads as workwear rather than as a toy tie-in. Denim was still an unusual choice for a skate shoe at that point, and it ages the way denim does, which is part of the appeal. The partnership ran to several more Dunks and later moved onto Nike Sportswear models, making the company one of the longest-standing outside partners the skate line has had. Releases of this kind were tiny and Japan-facing, and the run has effectively never left collector circulation.
