Crater is Nike's recycled-content tooling, and the Air Force 1 was one of the first models it was fitted to. The midsole is a blend of standard Nike foam and Nike Grind, the granulated rubber recovered from factory scrap and worn-out shoes, so the foam has a visibly speckled surface instead of the flat white wall the model normally carries. Nike states at least twenty percent recycled material by weight across the shoes in the range, which is the reason the program exists.
The upper here is conventional by comparison: leather panels in Light Lemon Twist, a bright warm yellow, with Armory Navy handling the Swoosh and accents and white filling in the rest. On a shoe whose midsole is doing something unusual, the high-contrast color blocking keeps the eye moving between the two. This is the grade-school cut, sized for younger feet and priced below the adult version at $95. The silhouette, ankle collar and lace-lock hardware are otherwise unchanged from the full-size shoe.
