Quai 54 is a street basketball tournament that has run in Paris since 2003, founded by Hammadoun Sidibe and Thibaut de Longeville, and Nike and Jordan Brand have supplied it with footwear for most of its life. The releases attached to it tend to be louder than the brand's general-release colorways, and this one is no exception. The upper is treated so that the color changes with the viewing angle, running through purple into blue and green rather than sitting on one tone, and white is used underneath to keep the effect readable rather than muddy. The frosted sole continues it.
This is the Comfort Premium high-top, Nike's cushioned reworking of the model rather than the standard build, which is where the $165 price comes from. Against a model whose best known colorway is plain white leather, an upper that refuses to hold a single color is about as far from the 1982 basketball shoe as the Air Force 1 gets.
