Olympic makeups give a designer a very short list to work from, and this one uses it literally: gold for the medal, navy and white for the flag. Red is left out entirely, which is what keeps the shoe from reading as a generic patriotic colorway. Gold is the accent doing the most work, applied to branding and trim on a white leather upper, with midnight navy deepening the contrast wherever the gold would otherwise float. Navy is dark enough that at a distance it passes for black, which makes the metallic pieces sit harder against it.
This is the Premium high-top, so the leather grade is a step above a general release, and the $145 price reflects that rather than any change to the pattern. The build is the one Bruce Kilgore drew in 1982: a padded collar, an adjustable strap across the ankle, a perforated toe box and a rubber cupsole with Air cushioning sealed inside the heel.
