The mid is the least discussed of the three cuts and the one with the most hardware on show. It stops above the ankle rather than at it, and the strap across the collar is the shoe's dominant feature, wide enough to carry branding and positioned where the eye lands first. This makeup uses that. Gym Red is applied to the strap, to the heel side of the upper and to the perforated toe box, so the red sits at the three points furthest apart on the shoe and the black leather in between holds them together. Branding appears on the strap, the heel and the tongue.
The cushioning is the same as on every other version: an Air unit encapsulated in the foam midsole, which is what Bruce Kilgore's 1982 design introduced to basketball footwear. The model arrived as a high-top, added a low, and the mid came later. At $95 it split the difference in price too.
