Deep Royal Blue puts breathable white mesh at the base of the Air Max 1's upper, adding a black leather Swoosh and Pure Platinum suede overlays at the midfoot and heel. Royal blue is kept to two places, the mudguard and the interior lining, so the color reads as an accent rather than the dominant tone against the white and grey base. The two-tone rubber outsole carries flex grooves alongside its waffle traction pattern, a detail that has stayed on the shoe since its original running-shoe design.
