Nike built this pair as part of its City Pride series, a set organized around individual cities rather than a single running silhouette. On the Houston make, the model's signature wave panels shift through a grey gradient, while 'HOU' appears twice, in broken block letters at the heel and layered over an outline of Texas on the tongue. The rest of the shape stays close to the model's standard running build, with the city artwork doing the work rather than any structural change.
A screw graphic worked into the heel references DJ Screw, the Houston producer credited with slowing hip hop down into the city's own chopped and screwed style.
