Mike Armstrong's design returns six years later on the Nike Air Max 95 LE DB 'Doernbecher', issued November 19, 2007, at $140, as the tenth anniversary release for the Doernbecher program. Rather than start with a new design, Nike brought the earlier build back, dressing it in varsity royal with white and varsity red and swapping the usual leather mudguard for a patent leather version.
The rest of the shoe runs on a Captain America theme meant to represent overcoming hardship, and the story is spelled out directly on the upper: handwritten words including Pain, Surgery and Hunger appear across the shoe rather than staying tucked inside as a hidden detail. It is one of the more personal takes on the Air Max 95, built around one person's account rather than a general colour story.
