The Lunar Eclipse pair was made for an actual astronomical event (the total solar and lunar eclipse activity of spring 2006) and split into two shoes, East and West, released on their respective coasts. Both use a gradient running the length of the upper to imitate a shadow crossing a surface, and the two are mirror images of each other: the East fades from light at the toe to charcoal at the heel, while the West inverts it. Owning one meant knowing which coast you were on. It belongs to the black-box period of Nike SB, named for the packaging used at the time, and stands out even in that run for building a colourway around a calendar date rather than a person, a place or a paint chip.
