The eleventh Kobe arrived during Kobe Bryant's final season and carried the line's argument to its conclusion: a very low collar, a knitted upper, and a build organised around weight rather than protection. This premium version was made for the 2016 Games in Rio, part of a run of national and host-country themes Nike put across its basketball range that summer. White covers the upper with hyper cobalt blue running through the branding and detailing. Underneath sits the line's cushioning setup of the period: a Lunarlon foam midsole with Air cushioning worked into it, kept low enough that the foot sits close to the floor. At $220 it was priced above the standard model, which is what the premium designation bought. It released in early August 2016, days before the tournament opened and months after Bryant had retired, in the stretch when the line was turning from a signature shoe into a legacy one.
