Jason Petrie designed the seventeenth LeBron around a material Nike called Knitposite, which combines Flyknit construction with heat-moulded yarns to produce something with the structure of a moulded shell and the give of a knit. The launch pair ran it in wolf grey, with the marbled colouring the process makes possible.
Underneath sat two kinds of Air. The heel carried the largest-volume Max Air unit ever put in a LeBron shoe, styled after the Air Max 720, tinted orange and left visible, while forefoot Zoom handled the rest. For a player entering his seventeenth season, the argument was shock absorption as much as responsiveness.
The detailing leaned into the launch theme, with a Remove Before Launch hangtag, an iridescent Swoosh on the heel counter and a lion sketch on the lace cover. Future Air was released on 27 September 2019. This is the limited EP version, built with the harder outdoor-grade outsole.
