The shoe exists because of a picture. In 2017 LeBron James posted an image of Arthur, the aardvark from the children's television series, with his fist clenched (a reaction image that had already been circulating widely), and Nike eventually turned the joke into a colorway.
The translation is literal, which is what makes it work. Arthur wears a yellow sweater, so the knit upper is University Gold. He wears denim, so the leather overlay across the toe box is blue. He wears red shoes, so red lands on the pull tab and on the FlyEase zipper that wraps the heel. The crisscrossing straps are checkered, copying the pattern in the show's logo.
Underneath the reference it is a working Soldier: strapped, slip-on, and built around the zip entry system Nike developed so that a shoe can be opened, put on and secured without tying anything. It is one of the few cases where an accessibility feature ended up carrying the punchline as well.
