Sail is the detail that makes this work. Nike uses it in place of pure white when a shoe needs to look softer or slightly aged, and on an Air Force 1 it changes the whole register: the same panels that normally look crisp instead look muted, which is what lets two pastels sit on top without the shoe turning garish.
Arctic Pink and Racer Blue split the accent duties. One is warm and one is cool, and using both means neither the Swoosh nor the heel nor the sole trim collapses into a single block of color the way a one-accent makeup does. The shoe itself is the standard women's low-top, unchanged from the basketball design Bruce Kilgore drew in 1982: a perforated vamp, a padded collar, an Air unit under the heel and the circular pivot pattern on the rubber outsole. At $100 it was a general release, priced the same as any other leather low-top on the shelf that spring.
