Black over white is the most durable way to buy this shoe. The upper is drawn entirely in black, so the panel seams read as texture instead of colour blocks, and the white midsole is the only break. Scuffing shows on the sole rather than the leather, which is the reverse of how most 90s age. Nike put this women's pair out in January 2018 at $110, the standard price for a general-release 90 that season.
The construction is unchanged: layered panels up the sides, a plastic-framed Air unit set into the heel, and a waffle-pattern rubber outsole underneath. Tinker Hatfield drew the original in 1990, where it launched as the Air Max III before Nike renamed it after its debut year. Black-and-white pairs are the volume sellers in the 90 range and almost never sell out on release, which makes them easier to find in full size runs than the seasonal colourways.
