The Nano has been Reebok's training shoe for over a decade, built around a problem most footwear sidesteps: one shoe has to be stable enough to squat in and soft enough to jump and run in, and those requirements pull against each other. For years the answer was to favour stability and accept that running in it was unpleasant.
The X3, out in 2023, tried a mechanical fix. Reebok calls it the Lift and Run Chassis, a dome-shaped structure at the heel that compresses flat when a heavy load presses through it and stays softer under lighter impact. Under a barbell it behaves like a firm platform; on a box jump or a few hundred metres of running it gives.
Testers broadly agreed that it worked within limits. Heavy lifting, intervals and mixed sessions all read well, and the shoe drew praise for how it handled landings. Longer distances still exposed the weight and the wide flat outsole. This white version came in August 2023 at $150.
