The Club C 85 Mule takes the front half of Reebok's Club C 85 and removes the back. The toe, its perforations and the rubber cupsole are all the tennis shoe's, but there is no heel counter and no collar: the foot slides in and the shoe stays on by the fit of the vamp alone. 'White Aqua Dust' is a women's colourway that keeps the leather white and adds Aqua Dust, a washed-out blue-green, with Energy Glow as a second accent. The white dominates, so the shoe still reads as a white mule from across a room.
It released March 6, 2021 at $140, a price that puts the mule well above a laced Club C 85 and above most of Reebok's other Club C variants. The backless build changes how the Club C is used: it becomes a slip-on for warm weather, for wearing around the house, or for anyone who wants the tennis-shoe front without lacing up. Because a mule stays on through the fit of the forefoot alone, it fits differently from the full shoe and is worth trying on. In the aqua-and-white make-up it is one of the lighter-looking versions Reebok has made of the Club C, and the closest the shoe comes to a summer sandal.
