Saucony's Endorphin line splits by plate material. The Pro gets carbon and is a race shoe; the Speed gets nylon, which flexes where carbon would not, and that single substitution is what makes it usable for daily training as well as for a hard session.
The fourth version left the recipe alone and fixed the edges. The nylon plate was rebuilt with vertical reinforcement at the wings, so it resists twisting side to side while keeping the front-to-back flex that stops the shoe from feeling like a plank. The forefoot cutout in the outsole was closed up, which let Saucony put more PWRRUN PB underfoot for about a fifth of an ounce, and the new criss-cross tread improved forefoot durability and wet grip. The tongue was redesigned so it stops slipping under the laces.
Underneath it all sits the same medium stack of Pebax-based foam and the Speedroll rocker, which does most of the work of turning the shoe over at pace.
