The 2015-16 season is the one the name refers to. Golden State won 73 games and lost 9, passing the 72-10 mark the Chicago Bulls had held since 1996. Curry broke his own record for three-pointers in a season, which had stood at 286, and finished with 402. When the Most Valuable Player award came round he took all 131 first-place votes - the first unanimous winner in the history of the award, and his second in consecutive years.
The Warriors had entered that season as defending champions, having won the 2015 Finals the summer before.
