The Era exists because two skaters asked for it. In 1976 Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta worked with Vans on a version of the deck shoe built for what they were actually doing on it, and the result (catalogued as Style 95) added a padded collar to the low-top Authentic and offered it in two-tone colour blocking the plain canvas shoe never had.
It became the model most associated with the first generation of pool and vert skating, and the padded collar idea carried directly into the Sk8-Hi two years later.
Anaheim Factory is a separate proposition: a line in which Vans rebuilds its classics to older specifications rather than current ones. That means the logo of the period rather than the modern one, heavier canvas, a thicker foxing stripe and a chunkier overall profile than the standard production shoe, which has been slimmed down over the decades.
This pair puts the two together: an Era 95 in OG white with an OG blue pinstripe across the canvas, made the way the shoe would have been made when Alva and Peralta were riding it.
