A Boost foam midsole replaces the Stan Smith's rubber cupsole on this pair, part of adidas Originals' early-2017 update that left the leather upper and proportions unchanged. This Haze Coral edition carries that coral shade through the leather, the eyelets, and the laces, landing over a white sole unit so the tone reads as the only real color break. Applying Boost cushioning to a tennis-inspired court shoe was a shift for a foam usually reserved for adidas's running lines.
The tongue still carries Stan Smith's portrait and the sides keep the three rows of perforations that stand in for adidas's usual stripes. It released May 20, 2017, at $130, giving the Boost version a coral option alongside the standard whites the model is best known for.
