adidas built this Stan Smith specifically for preschool-age feet, replacing the classic lace-up closure with hook-and-loop straps that make the shoe faster to get on and off. The White Green colorway keeps the tennis shoe's original formula intact: a white leather upper, three rows of perforations standing in for an external stripe, and a padded heel tab in green, originally added to the design as Achilles-tendon protection. It released in January 2019.
The Stan Smith name itself dates to a 1978 rename, when adidas dropped the shoe's earlier 'Robert Haillet' branding in favor of the American tennis player whose portrait had already been appearing on the tongue. This preschool version carries that same tongue graphic and stripe perforation pattern down to a smaller last, giving young kids the same silhouette their parents might recognize from the adult court shoe, minus the laces.
