adidas built a small animal series into the infant Superstar 360 range, and this is the panda. Cloud White mesh covers most of the upper, Core Black blocks in the contrast panels, and Crystal White fills the rest, which is about as close as the Superstar palette gets to a literal animal without printing one on.
The 360 build matters more than the theme at this size. There are no laces, no eyelets and no tongue to wrestle with; the upper stretches and the foot goes straight in. The rubber shell toe is moulded on the front, taking the scuffing that toddlers deliver to the front of a shoe, and the outsole is lightweight with deep grooves so it bends easily. It was priced at $45 and released August 25, 2021, the same day as the tiger makeup in the same series.
