Balenciaga applies its worn-in treatment to the Stan Smith's white leather shape, scuffing the surface, cracking the coating, and aging the sole so the shoe looks handed down rather than new out of the box. This colorway commits fully to Core Black, with white showing through only where the distressing wears the finish away, unlike the brand's washed white and green pairing released from the same collaboration.
The design was first shown at Balenciaga's Spring/Summer 2023 runway show at the New York Stock Exchange in May 2022 before releasing to the public on November 3, 2022. At $950, it prices the classic court shoe's shape closer to a design house release than a sport original, with the tongue portrait and perforated stripes still visible beneath the aging.
