Running shoes got taller. Through the early 2020s stack heights climbed across almost every category, pushed by racing shoes that stacked as much foam under a runner as the rules allowed, and everyday trainers followed the look and the feel. World Athletics caps road racing shoes at forty millimetres of sole, and by this point ordinary training models were built close to that ceiling without ever intending to be raced. The thirtieth Kayano is part of that shift, adding several millimetres over the previous edition along with a wider base and taller sidewalls to keep the extra height stable. This is the extra-wide fitting of it. Glow yellow does the visibility work against an all-black knit, which is the standard division of labour when a running colourway has one bright element and everything else is dark.
