The GT-1000 is the cheapest way into ASICS' stability range, and the twelfth version held the line at a hundred dollars, roughly forty below the GT-2000 that sits above it. The two shoes share an approach: FlyteFoam cushioning with a LiteTruss support structure resisting inward roll, rather than the plastic shank and firmer medial post older stability shoes used.
Reviewers were consistent about who it suits. It came up repeatedly as a first stability shoe for newer runners building mileage who want support without a premium price, and just as consistently as a poor choice for anyone chasing speed, since the FlyteFoam setup is durable and stable but not especially springy. Weight landed near 9.6 ounces for a men's pair, and the fit ran true to size.
That combination has made it one of the higher-volume shoes in the range, which is also why ASICS builds it on wide and extra-wide lasts and in a waterproof version.
This black and glow yellow pair was the loudest of the May 2023 launch colorways, with the brightness confined to the brand's stripes against a dark mesh upper. Alongside it came a white and illusion blue option and a quieter storm blue over dune.
