Mist is one of the pale blue-greys ASICS keeps returning to, and paired with a warm coral it gives the twenty-third Nimbus a softer look than the shoe's bulk suggests. That bulk is the line's inheritance: the Nimbus launched in 1999 as the cushioned end of the road range and has stayed there through twenty-five years of foam changes. Version 23 sat right before the big one. Its FlyteFoam midsole was noticeably livelier and less dense than earlier generations, edging toward the springier compound the brand was using in the Novablast, with a FlyteFoam Propel layer stacked above it at the heel. The upper picked up a sleeved tongue and a filled-in arch, and the plastic midfoot piece shrank.
